Source and methodology

Source: companydata.dk / CVR, Danish Business Authority. The statistics are compiled daily from our CVR database. A saved edition preserves the figures, methodology and downloads from the same extraction.

Each CVR number is counted once, using the incorporation date in the Danish Central Business Register (stiftelsesDato). All legal forms and current statuses are included, including companies that have since closed.

The incorporation date is a calendar date. It is neither the date the company was imported into companydata.dk nor the date its business operations began.

The current month is excluded. Months with no recorded incorporations are shown as zero. Companies without a valid incorporation date are excluded from the time series.

The figures describe incorporations recorded in our CVR database. They do not measure how many new companies are economically active. Later registrations and corrections in CVR may change figures for previous months.

The source contains 2,268,379 companies across all statuses and years. 2,264,360 have a valid incorporation date; 4,019 do not. The time series includes only formations within the stated period.
