Both periods must run from 1 January to 31 December and be reported in DKK. Only filings published by the extraction date are used. Multiple current-year filings or ambiguous previous year-end filings are excluded.

Profit means profit/loss for the financial year above zero; loss means below zero. Exact zero is break-even. The five transition categories are disjoint. Recovery divides loss-to-profit counts by all previously loss-making accounts, including those now at break-even. Deterioration divides profit-to-loss counts by all previously profitable accounts. Persistent-loss share uses the full matched panel.

Equity transitions use accounts with numeric equity in both years. Equity recovery means negative to zero or positive equity; it does not establish a healthy balance sheet. Equity ratio is equity divided by positive total assets, multiplied by 100. Both years use the same eligible ratio population. Negative ratios are retained; missing values are not zero.

The extraction preferentially selects undimensioned or separate-company XBRL contexts, but historical records do not prove consistent company/group scope. A changed recorded consolidation flag is excluded; an unchanged flag cannot rule out a scope change. Acquisitions, disposals, restatements and accounting-policy changes may affect comparisons. Figures compare the stored accounts for each year, not restated comparatives from a later filing. We count filing entities and do not sum their profits, equity or assets into national economic totals.

Industry and municipality are fixed to the stored CVR classification and registered address at extraction, for both years. Industry groups use the first two digits of the stored primary code and the saved division names. Historical codes may remain on ceased entities; this is not a harmonised historical DB25 time series or a measure of industry growth or relocations. Divisions 64–66 are shown separately from other known divisions. Unknown industry is separate. Municipalities describe registered offices, not workplaces or where economic activity occurs.

Current active status is not an eligibility criterion: ceased and inactive filing entities can be included. The panel still requires accounts in both years and therefore excludes entrants and entities without a comparable second filing. It is not representative of every Danish business and must not be used as a bankruptcy forecast. The coverage table shows the sequential exclusions. Group rates are unweighted; each CVR number counts once.
