Den Selvejende Institution Kunstbygningen i Vrå har til formål: at etablere og drive en kunstbygning i Vrå omfattende Vrå-udstillingens medlemmer samt at belyse den kultur- og kunsthistoriske baggrund og egnens betydning for Vrå-udstillingen med specielt udgangspunkt i Vrå-udstillingens stifter, Svend Engelund, at være hjemsted for et repræsentativt antal af Svend Engelunds billeder, som til stadighed skal være ophængt i bygningen, at drive udstillingsvirksomhed for kunstnere tilknyttet Vrå-udstillingen gennem tiderne, repræsenterende forskellige perioder af de pågældendes arbejder, og kun undtagelsesvist i særligt kunstnerisk begrundede tilfælde kan bestyrelsen beslutte at lade bygningen huse andre udstillinger, at fastholde og yderligere udvikle Vrå som kunstby for områdets beboere og turismen i landsdelen i samarbejde med Vrå-udstillingens kunstnere, Vrå by og Vrå Folkehøjskole og Vrå-udstillingens venner.
