P number (production unit)
A P number (production unit number) is a 10-digit number identifying each physical location from which a company operates. Every company has at least one P number linked to its CVR number.
Where the CVR number identifies the legal entity, the P number identifies the address: the store, warehouse, office, or factory. A production unit has its own address, its own industry code, and its own employee count.
What are P numbers used for?
P numbers are used by authorities for supervision (e.g. food inspection per location) and for statistics. For sales and analysis work they are invaluable: they reveal how many locations a chain actually has and where they are — information the CVR number alone doesn't give.
