Industry code (DB07)
An industry code is a 6-digit code from the Danish Industry Classification 2007 (DB07) describing a company's main activity. The company chooses the code itself at registration and can additionally state up to three secondary industries.
DB07 is the Danish version of the EU's NACE nomenclature and divides business activity hierarchically — from sections through groups down to the 6-digit subclasses, e.g. 620100 'Computer programming'. The code determines, among other things, which industry statistics the company is counted in.
Use and pitfalls
The industry code is self-chosen and not always updated when activity changes — so it can be misleading for individual companies, especially broad codes like 'Other business activities'. For segmentation and lead lists it is nevertheless the single most important filter: combined with geography and size, it targets an audience precisely.
