Fonden skal som sit formål udvikle og fremme evidensbaserede indsatser til mental sundhedsfremme, herunder forståelsen af de grundlæggende aspekter af mental sundhed i Danmark og internationalt med det primære sigte at agere til størst mulig gavn og glæde for befolkningsgrupper og det enkelte menneske. Med henblik på at opfylde sit formål kan fonden bl.a.; (i) arbejde for mental sundhedsfremme for mennesker i alle aldre og alle kulturer, uanset årsagerne til mentale sundhedsproblematikker; (ii) arbejde både med primær (proaktiv), sekundær (responsiv) og tertiær (rehabiliterende) forebyggelse af mental lidelse og mental sygdom, og (iii) bedrive og støtte forskning af relevans for mental sundhed, herunder grundvidenskabelig forskning i fx sundhedspsykologi, meditation, bevidsthed, bæredygtighed, folkesundhed, bio-psykosociale relationer og teoriudvikling. Fonden skal som led i udøvelsen af dens formål være politisk uafhængig. Fonden kan til opfyldelse af formålet deltage og/eller investere i projekter eller samarbejder, der direkte eller indirekte kan medvirke til at forbedre befolkningers mentale sundhed. Fonden kan til opfyldelse af formålet stifte selskaber, herunder aktie- og anpartsselskaber. Fonden kan være helt eller delvis medejer af sådanne selskaber og af andre aktiviteter og organisationer, der fremmer formålet. Fonden kan til opfyldelse af formålet erhverve bestående virksomheder eller indgå aftaler om anvendelsen af koncepter, redskaber eller metoder til fremme af mental sundhed helt eller delvist, herunder via selskaber. Fonden og/eller fondens datterselskaber kan til opfyldelse af formålet fremstille og sælge produkter eller tjenesteydelser, der fremmer fondens formål.
