Foreningen har til formål at administrere den aftale om genanvendelse af arkivudsendelser, som er indgået mellem på den ene side DR og på den anden side Copydan AV-Området samt en lang række organisationer, som repræsenterer rettigheder til DRs arkiv af radio- og tv-udsendelser, idet Foreningen indtræder som part i aftalen. Foreningen har herudover til formål at indgå og administrere eventuelle andre aftaler om genanvendelse af arkivudsendelser som alle eller nogle af Foreningens medlemmer er omfattet af, og disse aftaler kan søges tillagt aftalelicensvirkning på samme måde som DR arkivaftalen.
