Bestyrelsen kan i enkelte tilfælde give dispensation fra den restriktive publikums- og anvendelses politik hvis det skønnes muligt inden for rammerne af den generelle langsigtede, naturnære drift. Af veneration for skovområdets stifter, Poul Larsen, ønskes Højkol hovedbygning, opført af Poul Larsen i 1904, bevaret og holdt i fortsat god stand. De i skoven beliggende huse ønskes bevaret og udlejet på vilkår som sikrer husenes gode vedligeholdelsesstandard, og der pålægges lejerne en adfærd, som sikrer området som uforstyrret naturområde.
